FORT MEIGS FIBER ARTS SPINNING CLASS

Spinning fibers into yarn is an ancient trade. Now you can learn how to spin in this new workshop taught by Susan Cayton, one of Fort Meigs’ long-time volunteers.

Participants will learn how to prepare fibers, use a wooden drop spindle, and try several different makes of spinning wheels. All will have the opportunity to create a piece of their own and take it home! Cost is $40 dollars per person, $35 for OHC members, and includes all required materials and supplies. Hours: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Workshop size is limited to the first 10 people registered.  Pre-registration is required.

DRUMS AT THE RAPIDS: MINIATURE WAR GAMING CONFERENCE

Date: May 15 – 16, 2015
Location:  Fort Meigs – 29100 West River Rd. Perrysburg , OH 43551

Fight epic battles on a small scale Friday and Saturday in the Visitor Center when we host HMGSGL’s wargaming conference. Many time periods will be represented from Roman wars to WWII. Warfare on the land, sea, and air will be re-created on tabletop battlefields. Admission to participate is $12 per day or $18 for both days which includes admission to the site. Regular site admission applies for those who wish to watch but not participate. Co-sponsored by the Historical Miniatures Gaming Society, Great Lakes Chapter.

 

FORT MEIGS MEMORIAL DAY COMMEMORATION

Join the staff and volunteers of Fort Meigs in honoring our nation’s fallen heroes. War of 1812 soldiers and civilians reenact camp life throughout the day. A special wreath laying ceremony takes place at 2 p.m. at the Fort Meigs Monument. The ceremony ends with a wreath laying and musket salute at the Pennsylvania Monument. Site hours 12:00 – 5:00 p.m.

The Ohio State Fair season is just around the corner!

The full concert lineup will run from July 29-August 9 this year and will include big acts such as Reba McEntire, Meghan Trainor, Patti Labelle, and Jake Owen.

Other acts will include Alabama, Peter Frampton, Cheap Trick, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, Chris Tomlin, Great White, Deep Purple, plus more!

Ticket prices range from $20-$60 and if purchased in advance, will include standard fair admission.
